A sudden pipeline

According to the FBI documents posted on Halloween day by the National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS), there have been nearly 3,000,000 gun-related checks deals, representing an increase of approximately 400,000 tests over the last year’s October. Near the end of 2016, which currently has seen approximately 22,000,000 NICS checks, making it the second highest year in the history of NICS, with 2015 seeing the highest total.

NICS checks are measured to be one of the most accurate indicators for gun sales due to nearly all federally licensed firearm dealers are to have an inspection by law, but does not represent the exact count of gun sales in a month for other reasons. For instance, many states require an NICS checks for those applying for gun carry permits, but not, when it comes to sales between private parties.
